Project Overview
Mafin is an IT company developing a web platform for personalized auto insurance (CASCO) services. ABD architects chose an expedition theme as the core design concept. The spirit of explorers and pioneers permeates the space.
Long facades of meeting rooms and offices become cabins of a jungle-lost airplane and bathyscaphe with large round windows and portholes.
Spatial Organization
Flexible layout adapts to tasks and team needs. Open space uses movable tables, reconfigurable shapes, and transformable partitions for zoning.
Teams can isolate for focused work inside enclosed areas or merge with adjacent spaces for collaboration — without disturbing others. For example, a meeting room can serve as a quiet zone for one team, then open via movable partitions to connect with the corridor for presentations or events.
Hot desking: no assigned desks — employees choose based on tasks (collaborative clusters or quiet focus rooms). Personal lockers styled as cargo ship wooden crates.
Multiple meeting rooms of varying sizes, plus collaboration zones for quick huddles or extended sessions.
Rest areas: lounge zones, games room, sleep capsules.
Design Concept
Jungle atmosphere created with tropical plants inside glass open-space partitions, hanging vines from the ceiling, and stabilized moss walls.
Each zone has unique design supporting the expedition theme: ancient civilization ornaments, travel gear, natural motifs.
Examples: one meeting room styled as Lascaux cave with relief wall and prehistoric paintings; another as a tourist tent.
Decor includes hand-painted elements: jungle animals, rock art, tribal scripts.
Project Statements
Oksana Ananyeva, HR Director, Mafin:
“When we started, we knew the office had to be unusual yet maximally comfortable and inspiring for employees. These were the key tasks set for the architects. It was especially important for us that staff feel ‘at home,’ particularly since some specialists provide client support even at night.
We chose the expedition theme as the main concept — primarily because nature imagery evokes calm and serenity.
One of the main ways we evaluate the office is employee feedback. The most popular spot among the team became the airplane-fragment collaboration zone, which has already turned into the office’s signature icon.”
