Project Overview

Olymp Clinic MARS is a multidisciplinary healthcare facility built around a personalized approach, placing an individual’s lifestyle and interests at the core of planning, prevention, diagnostics, and treatment.

The project required not only the integration of all necessary functional areas and the creation of a refined interior environment, but also the expression of the clinic’s values and mission, offering patients a distinctive spatial experience.

Spatial Organization

The building is the result of a реконструкция → reconstruction, with a structure well suited for a medical facility. Generous corridors, a regular window grid, and sufficient ceiling heights support efficient clinical operations.

The clinic is organized into several functional zones:

  • public areas — including the reception area on the ground floor, cafeteria, corridors, and waiting areas;
  • outpatient department — diagnostic rooms, consultation rooms, treatment rooms, and rehabilitation spaces;
  • inpatient unit — comfortable single and family rooms;
  • staff areas — offices, lounges, and a conference room.

Staff areas are designed to ensure comfort throughout the working day, featuring shared workstations, ergonomic seating selected with the involvement of the chief physician, high-quality lighting, and dedicated coffee points and kitchenettes with vending machines in each staff room.

Each floor is organized around a central linear corridor. Niches integrated into the walls display patient appreciation items. A key principle of the layout is the absence of queues in corridors — each local reception is paired with a dedicated waiting lounge.

The second and third floors accommodate diagnostic, consultation, and treatment rooms (with a focus on traumatology and orthopedics), the chief physician’s office, waiting areas, rehabilitation spaces, and changing rooms designed in visual continuity with staff areas.

The fourth floor is defined by a warmer, more residential character, with an emphasis on wood finishes to create a calm and comfortable atmosphere. It houses the inpatient unit, with decentralized nurse stations and supporting technical spaces. Most rooms are single occupancy, with several family rooms. All patient rooms feature seven lighting scenarios and are fully accessible, with barrier-free bathrooms and showers.

The fifth floor is dedicated to surgery, with three fully equipped operating theatres and an intensive care unit fitted with advanced medical equipment. Staff support spaces are also located here. By optimizing the size of changing шлюз → changing airlocks, additional storage for medical supplies was created.

Positioning the operating block on the top floor with access to natural daylight is an uncommon solution, as such facilities are typically located deeper within the building core without windows.

The sixth floor features a conference hall equipped with advanced video conferencing systems. The space is designed for both internal meetings and larger-scale medical events, including conferences, workshops, and lectures for medical students, with the possibility of live broadcasting from the operating theatres.

The hall includes multiple lighting scenarios, including a “starry sky” effect created by point lighting. Behind it is a control room informally referred to as the Mission Control Center. The same floor also includes spaces referred to as the Command Unit and the Astronaut Training Department.

Design Concept

The space-themed concept — Olymp Mars — was initiated by the clinic’s chief physician, Andrey Korolev, as a tribute to his grandfather, Sergei Korolev, a pioneering figure in space exploration.

The ground floor introduces a futuristic environment: large porthole-like openings on the second level suggest the form of a spacecraft, while black mirrored wall panels enhance the perception of scale, transforming a fragment into a complete architectural gesture.

Furniture elements, elevated on slender supports, reference landing modules of research stations. Linear lighting fixtures create a sense of motion, adding dynamism to otherwise static spaces — particularly visible through the porthole openings from the upper-level corridors.
