On February 12, an excursion for journalists and architects to the multifunctional veterinary center SkolkovoVet, which opened at the end of January 2021, took place.

The SkolkovoVet center is located in the suburbs of Moscow, in the village of Zarechye. The project of the veterinary clinic was developed in the Russian architectural bureau ABD architects, and the interior design was developed in the English bureau Scott Brownrigg from London. The center was built by Millhouse as part of the Skolkovo Park Integrated Development project.

The architects have found a unique solution for a fairly common architectural interpretation of the typology: a simple in form, but symbolically opened to the outside with the help of glass walls, the building creates the image of a hospitable, but at the same time modern and high-tech complex in which pets are surrounded by professional care.

During the tour, Anna Kofman, the chief architect of the project of ABD architects, told about the features of the unusual project for the bureau and its implementation. Larch, which can survive any weather conditions, was chosen as the central material of the facade and interiors of the building.  «The building itself turned out to be light and graphic, here all the lines are correct and there are no excesses. Its beauty is precisely in such brevity and simplicity», - Anna added.

Boris Levyant, General director of ABD architects, noted that the difference in the design of a clinic for humans and animals is small, since the standards and the list of equipment are similar. A specific feature of this Center is the rehabilitation department: animals can recover from injuries and operations there, a swimming pool, a water treadmill, devices for laser and extracorporeal shock wave therapy have been created for them.

«…..a great emphasis in this clinic is on the rehabilitation of animals. Therefore, the rehabilitation zone is unique: it has water-running tracks, a swimming pool. People come here not only to treat animals and perform operations, but also to carry out diagnostics», - said Anna Kofman, the chief architect of the project of ABD architects.

Alyona Boikova, , the chief doctor of the veterinary center, conducted a tour of the interior spaces. Alyona told in detail about the features of the rehabilitation zone, the intensive care and surgery hospital, the operating unit, technical rooms, waiting rooms..
